#50 / Le Pont du Gard
My first landmark as I reach
a half-century! This is the Pont du Gard. Quite a drive from us, but worth it
nonetheless. Our son took a school trip there last year and was allowed to go
inside! I didn’t even know there was an inside…
It is an impressive feat of
engineering and construction and anyone visiting the area should go and spend a
day or half a day there.
I painted this sketchy representation in rather a rush on a burnt sienna ground and have left lots of it peeking through. I think it helps to boost the warmth in the naples yellow and give a warm glow to these sorts of images.
