#2 / Blue Vase, Lemon and cut red onion

Day two and a little still life with a blue vase which breaks up the light as it shines through and casts a wonderful fractured shadow on the white surface it sits on. The lemon was looking rather sad and dried out so I thought I should put it to some use before it starts going any further towards the dark side. I love the colour of the flesh and the fine dark red lines that cut through it.

The painting didn’t quite come out as I envisaged, but no doubt I shall have practice painting more red onions etc. in the coming days, weeks, months and years…
