#32 / Sitting, waiting
A bit of a departure from my
usual work, I’m looking at line, blocks of colour, ways of depicting the
human form and the way that abstraction relates to existentialism. (I hate
talking in that way, it reminds me of a lot of guff that was bandied about at
art school when I took my degree… still, it is the syntax I am used to in this
context)
This
man was sitting in a café in Saint Remy de Provence looking distinctly uneasy.
He was one of a number of people I was sketching as I sat down for a coffee. Others
were eating with friends or family. Some were sitting alone, comfortable in
their own skin, but this man caught my eye and presented a potential subject
