#17 / Elephant Money Tin

This shiny Elephant money tin was given to our son when he was born as a gift from an old family friend called Honor who now lives in Ireland. It is full of pence, rubles, centimes, nickels and various other currencies he has saved up over the past six years. These (we tell him) will come in handy when he grows up and travels the world seeking fame and fortune. Thanks to our move from London to France, as well as the fantastic care and effort put in by his teachers at school, he now has two languages and lots of help with Russian should he ever want to add it to the list so the world is his oyster… I didn’t mean to attribute any particular meaning to this painting, but it just occurred to me that if it did have any, perhaps my son’s journey through life might be appropriate (though I hope it will be with fewer shiny elephants and more excitement than just t-shirts, broccoli and pebbles…)
